Opening this fall in Orange Beach

The Salty Tile

Members

Walk in.
Your table’s ready.

The members app for The Salty Tile — the whole calendar of American mahjong sessions, how many chairs are still free at each one, and a way to take them from your phone. Come with a foursome or come on your own; both work.

An account is free and takes nothing but an email and your name — membership itself activates at the front desk once we open this fall. Already a member? Sign in — it’s the same door.

What it does

What you’ll open it for

It runs in the browser you already have — nothing to download from a store, nothing to update. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like any other app on your phone.

Reserve a table

Open the calendar, pick a session, say how many seats you need — and the table is yours. No phone call, no waiting to hear back, no wondering whether the message got through.

Changed your mind? Let the seats go in a tap and they open right back up for someone else.

Fill your foursome

Book the seats you need and the app makes one link, good for two days. Send it to your three and each of them claims their own seat — no group-text roll call, no one holding a chair for someone who never comes.

The link expires; the seats don’t. A chair nobody claims stays yours until you let it go, so a friend going quiet never costs you the table.

Your three each need their own membership to claim a seat. Bringing someone who doesn’t have one is a word with the front desk rather than a tap — a host seats guests in person, and they settle up at the counter.

See what’s on

Open play, lessons, leagues — the published calendar, with how many chairs are still free at each one.

A nudge before your table

Add it to your home screen, say yes to notifications, and it buzzes a couple of hours ahead — then again when your table is set. Say no and nothing changes except the reminders.

Short a player, or all three? Come anyway — tell a host when you arrive and they’ll deal you into a friendly table. Seating people who came on their own is half of what a host is for.

The live floor on the Play page comes from the same place — seat counts only. Names stay inside the app, where the people at the table are the only ones who see them.

Joining

How you become a member

We open this fall. You can make your account today — the desk just can’t put a card on file until the doors are open, so set it up now and you’ll be booking in our first week.

We’ll say when: first looks and the day the doors open land on @thesaltytile and the mailing list first.

Three steps, and only the middle one needs you in the room.

  1. 1

    Make your account

Your email, the code we send back, and the name the front desk should look for. There’s no password to forget.

  2. 2

Card on file at the desk

Membership activates in person. It’s the one step that doesn’t happen on a phone — a host takes a card, and you’re a member.

  3. 3

    Take your first table

The calendar opens the moment your membership is active, and you book from it like any regular.

You don’t need a membership to play — open play is $10 per person, per hour, plus tax, and you’re welcome without a booking. Membership includes open play and 10% off in the boutique, so members book their table time without paying by the hour; tiers and pricing land with the rest of the opening details.

That desk is in Orange Beach — here’s how to find us.
